The American Airlines Boeing 737-800 that crashed off the runway late Tuesday in Jamaica got its certificate Sept. 27, 2002, making it one of the 148-seat 737s American ordered in 1996. However, it was manufactured in 2001. Here's a theory -- it may have been one of the airplanes whose delivery was deferred after 9/11. The airline says Flight 331 carried 148 passengers, meaning that every seat was filled.
