How many times a day do you test your blood sugar?

Type one diabetic and it seems I test mine incessantly. At least 15 times a day or about once every hour I am awake. Thankfully my testing supplies are paid for, otherwise I wouldn't have the luxury of being able to test so often as strips are stupidly expensive. Others out there think this is too much?
