Pope Benedict XVI on Monday condemned the abuse of children by members of the clergy. Speaking to Pontifical Council for the Family members, the pope said that while the church has defended children's dignity and rights throughout the centuries, in some cases, members of the clergy had violated those rights. The church, he said, hasn't and won't ever stop deploring and condemning such behavior.
