The Upper Arkansas Area Agency on Aging will no longer be providing counseling service to our communities. UAAAA will continue to offer the education portion of the contract thru June 2010; Beginning December 15, 2009, the counseling service will be offered through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, Division of Insurance, Senior Health office. The Asheville Citizen-Times is reporting that the U.S. House has approved a provision to give Swain County in North Carolina $13 million toward settling the decades-long dispute over the so called "Road to Nowhere" through the North Shore area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
